Collective Power, Creative Voice – Advocacy with Supermajority

As a creative professional, I believe that marketing is about movement. Whether that’s moving people, shifting narratives, or bringing communities together around a shared vision. My work with Supermajority, a national organization focused on women in leadership and civic participation, was a vivid example of how creativity and activism intersect to drive real impact.

Joining a Movement, Leading with Strategy

I joined Supermajority’s national community of women organizing for equity through digital advocacy, storytelling, and grassroots action. As a peer mentor and active participant in campaign efforts, I supported initiatives around voting rights, civic engagement, and systemic change.

But I didn’t just show up, I put my marketing skills to use!

I contributed through graphic design, photography, written content, and public speaking, helping translate complex issues into compelling, accessible, and action-driven messages. Whether I was capturing a moment on camera or crafting a caption that connected emotionally, every piece of work was rooted in purpose and persuasion.

Utilizing Marketing Skills as Advocacy

Everyone has different skillsets to bring to the table when doing advocacy work. This work sharpened my skills such as:

  • Creating visual content for digital organizing to share on social media
  • Documenting local events and gatherings, creating impactful content
  • Brushing up on my advocacy skills and peer-to-peer communications
  • Facilitating conversations and working together to uplift lived experiences and move people toward action

By blending strategy with storytelling, I helped make big-picture change feel tangible, local, and personal. That’s what effective communications do, build bridges between people and action.

What I Learned

My work with Supermajority further confirmed what I’ve always known, creative marketing is essential to nonprofit advocacy. The campaigns that move us emotionally are the ones that move us to act. Whether I’m working on a brand launch, a social campaign, or a grassroots initiative, I bring the same toolkit: clarity, authenticity, and a deep understanding of how to craft messages that resonate.

I’m proud to be part of a generation of marketers who see design, content, and communication not just as business tools, but as instruments for justice, connection, and change.

Let’s work together to build a brighter future.

xoxo,

Michaela Rae
