Mental Health is important, and affects everyone living on Earth. It’s never too early to prioritize wellness in your life and to make positive changes. Even children can benefit from prioritizing wellness, because they learn by mimicking what they see. Therefore, modeling healthy behavior as a parent has lasting affects that trickle down through generations.

Mental wellness isn’t like getting sick one time and getting better. It is something that can change due to circumstances and stressful life events. There will always be an ebb and flow when it comes to a healthy state of mind, and many factors can affect or change your mental health.

Some factors that can affect mental health include:

  • Postpartum or recovery
  • Job loss or work stress
  • Debt or poverty
  • Bereavement or loss
  • Illnesses or physical causes
  • Isolation or loneliness
  • Abuse or bullying
  • Discrimination or racism
  • Drug or alcohol abuse

Oftentimes you will be thrown into circumstances out of your control. However, the one thing you can control is your reaction to life’s stressors and how you choose to move forward. It’s impossible to avoid all the factors that can affect mental health but practicing mindfulness and being proactive by attending therapy can greatly help you during challenging times. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of my favorite activities and resources for mental wellness for moms.

Here are some mental health resources:

I hope you will utilize these resources to help maintain your mental health and overall family’s wellbeing. You do not have to be wealthy to afford professional counseling either, there are tons of free counseling services available online.
