Every year I create a resolution to do better. Like most people, sometimes I follow through with my intentions for the New Year and sometimes I fall short. The year I started creating vision boards, however, was different. Being able to actually see my goals made them that much more tangible!
Creating a Vision Board
Creating a vision board complete with images helps you visualize your goals and commit to them. So, why create a vision board?
- You’re forced to think through your goals more clearly
- It helps you quantify the goal and make it tangible
- You can see what the goal looks like thanks to the images you will include
- The process of creating a vision board helps you set an intention behind it
- Looking at your vision board is a great daily reminder of your goals
- It is a fun, creative project that brings you joy to create
- You can better prioritize your goals and values while creating a vision board
Do Vision Boards Work?
Vision boards are such a better tool for setting goals every year than just voicing an intention. Most of us are visual learners, so creating something with a visual component instead of just saying or writing down resolutions can help you stick to your goals for the year ahead.
Supplies You’ll Need:
Creating a vision board doesn’t have to follow an exact science, you can glue a magazine collage inside of an old notebook, or use a corkboard to hang up some cute images and easily change them out. Here are some supplies you might want to consider using while getting creative:
- Large poster board
- Glue stick
- Pictures
- Magazine
- Pens
- Computer & printer (if you prefer to type)
- A list of resolutions or goals
Now it’s time to get crafty! What will your vision board look like for this year? What do you hope to accomplish? I hope that you can commit to creating a vision board and find the strength to breathe life into your goals this year.
I am challenging myself to do the same!
xoxo,
Michaela Rae
