Sugar and Spice Book Launch at Printed Garden

Sugar and Spice: A Romance Anthology is a celebration of romance in all its forms and a testament to the strength of Utah’s writing community.

This flip style anthology brings together romance writers from across Utah in a single, inventive collection. Readers begin on one side with sweet, clean love stories that focus on emotional connection, tenderness, and possibility. When they are ready for something bolder, they flip the book and discover the spicy side, where passion takes center stage and romance unfolds with more heat.

The format invites readers to explore romance from multiple angles and highlights the genre’s incredible range.

One Character, Two Stories

I am especially excited to be part of this project because I contributed two separate stories to the anthology, one sweet and one spicy. Both stories feature the same main character, but each explores a different romantic path with a different love interest.

Writing the same character in two distinct stories pushed me as a writer. I had to remain emotionally consistent while allowing each relationship to develop its own tone, conflict, and chemistry. The sweet story focuses on emotional restraint and connection, while the spicy story leans into risk, desire, and vulnerability.

The experience challenged me to think carefully about character development, voice, and how romantic dynamics shift depending on circumstance and choice. It was creatively rewarding and stretched me well outside my comfort zone.

A Collaborative Literary Project

Sugar and Spice was created by the League of Utah Writers Romance Chapter (aka: LUW Romance), a group dedicated to supporting romance writers through craft development, collaboration, and community building. As a member of the chapter and as someone who supports the group through marketing, I was involved both behind the scenes and as a contributing author.

This anthology represents what is possible when writers come together with trust and a shared vision. From early planning through publication, the project was shaped by cooperation, experimentation, and a genuine love of story.

Book Launch at Printed Garden

We celebrated the release of Sugar and Spice at Printed Garden. The space provided a warm and inviting setting for a night centered on storytelling and connection.

The launch event included games, a live reading featuring selections from the anthology, and a book signing where readers could meet the authors and purchase signed copies. The energy in the room reflected the spirit of the collection itself. It was joyful, supportive, and full of enthusiasm for romance as a genre and for the writers who bring these stories to life.

Events like this remind me how important it is to build experiences around books, not just publish them.

Why Sugar and Spice Matters

This anthology is more than a collection of romance stories. It is a reflection of the work that pays off when building a thriving community and an example of how collaboration strengthens creative work.

From a marketing and storytelling perspective, Sugar and Spice demonstrates the impact of a clear concept, intentional design, and audience-focused thinking. The flip style format makes the anthology both memorable and approachable, inviting readers to engage with the book in a playful and personal way.

Looking Ahead

Being part of LUW Romance and contributing to this anthology continues to reinforce why I love working at the intersection of writing, marketing, and community engagement. This anthology reflects the kind of creative work I value most. Work that is collaborative, thoughtful, and rooted in human connection.
